Bonkers for Books
Are you bonkers for good books? Do you love hearing stories? Wish you could fit more into the day? This club will inspire your child to read and improve literacy skills. Each week, Ms. Johnson will share some of her favorite books, teach important literacy skills and connect it all to an art project or yummy snack. This club will be a fun-filled way for your child to improve their reading confidence, vocabulary, and communication skills.
Do you love Science and stories? Come join US for some fun, engaging, hands-on activities! Each week we will participate in quick and effective literacy instruction with simple, engaging STEM challenges based on popular children's literature/fairy tales. Don’t miss out on this cool club as we read, explore and create through

Ready, Set, Grow!
If you have always wanted to be a gardener, this club is for you! Get ready to explore, observe, and plant in this gardening club! Each week, we will do plant-related experiments as well as spend time in nature. Get your green thumbs ready, and come join us for this exciting club!
Come explore the exciting world of crafting! We will create multiple projects such as bird feeders, book character pumpkins, a tie dye project and much more. If you love expressing your creativity then this is the club for you!
Get ready to MOVE! Rookie Boot Camp
This Rookie Boot Camp will keep you moving while having fun in a positive environment! We will work to establish core strength and flexibility. Club students will be working on strength training through body-weight exercises. Conditioning will also be a part of this boot camp style workout. Not only will you develop an understanding of basic training skills but you will also be able to enhance character development and build a strong work ethic while hanging out with your friends!
Are you a junior chef who loves cooking up creations? Then this is the club for you! Each week we will cook an exciting new recipe from around the world as we build our own cookbook. Club members will even get to “review” the recipes after we taste them of course. Writing, math, and science skills will be practiced as students read recipes, measure ingredients, and help with the cooking. Come stir up some hands-on fun!
Students will explore, manipulate, and create pieces of artwork using ceramics including: hand-building, coil building, slab and glazing techniques. We will work with clay in the first three weeks to allow dry time before firing. We'll glaze our ceramics the next two classes and then take home our creations the last day! Along with each project, students will learn a little history behind ceramic art. Come see how cool clay arts can be!
Exploring Nature through Arts and Crafts
If you like discovering treasures outside, learning about trees, and creating art from the most unusual sources then Exploring Nature through Arts & Crafts is for you! Come paint with pine needle brushes, make insects from seeds, animals from pine cones, nature prints in clay and more! You can make anything with a little imagination! This club will be packed with fun activities related to nature and made from what you can find outdoors.
Crack the Code- Mystery Club
Are you ready to put on your detective hat? In this club your problem solving skills will be tested as you investigate and solve mysteries and take part in exciting treasure hunts. We will use strategies like real investigators to solve the crimes. There will even be hands on detective work to be done with finger printing, invisible ink and more. Students will love to put on their detective hats and crack the code.
We are heading on a STEMtastic mission where we will explore the world of science though hands-on experiences. We will investigate the science behind engineering, meteorology, chemistry, and circuitry with cool experiments and projects. Get ready to build a marble maze, recreate a tornado, explode elephant’s toothpaste, test squishy circuits, and much more!
LEAPING into Movement through Literacy
Students in this club will create, move and perform. We will be using poetry, literacy and written compositions to compose dances. Students will collaborate on dances and inspire each other! This club will not only have students up dancing, but will also integrate various learning styles. We will be sharing what we have learned and accomplished with parents during a culminating performance at the end of the club session.

We will explore and record our feelings and ideas in a positive and creative way, turning on the “right” side of our brains, by writing, painting, stamping, gluing, and more! Art journals help us see our thoughts, and are motivating and empowering. Bookin’ It Around the World- exploring reading, art and cooking
All you need to travel around the world is your imagination and creativity! Want to visit Europe? South America? Australia? The possibilities are endless! In Miss Kniazeva's club you will venture to all the continents and discover what makes up the different traditions and cultures there. We will make rain-forest slime, write a Haiku from the Japanese culture, collage a tapestry from Ireland and even create your own dance from an African tribe!
Hot Off the Press Newspaper Club
Help create the Fall edition of the Wendell Elementary newspaper! Students will love this engaging and creative club as they plan and publish a school newspaper. Club members will become reporters, editors, and writers as they publish their own newspaper to be shared with the WES community. In addition to the writing, students will add artistic elements to the paper such as advertisements, illustrations, and photographs.
Do you want to make short films? Do you want to create sets and characters? This club will involve making short claymation films! We will use iPads, clay and different crafting materials to make our films interesting and creative. Come join the fun as we create some cool claymation films
Are you interested in rhythm? Do you find yourself tapping rhythms with a pencil or making sounds or patterns? Then sign up for Introduction to Bucket Drumming and explore the exciting world of rhythm. You will love this hands-on musical experience. Come make a beat with us! (limited to 12 students)
